Your members may have participated in a study using the Apple Research app and the recent Keynote mentioned three new studies that have been added looking at asthma, heart failure, and early detection of Covid-19. Did you know there is more to the story? Apple has released ResearchKit, a software framework for apps that let medical researchers gather robust and meaningful data, and CareKit, a software framework for apps that let you better understand and manage your medical conditions.

Some current ResearchKit projects include the largest Parkinson’s study in history, searching for better ways to diagnose autism, and even ways to predict seizures and apps made with the CareKit framework include Concussion Tracker from the NYU Langone Medical Center, Mole Mapper from Oregon Health & Science University, and SleepHealth from the University of California San Diego and the American Sleep Apnea Association.

Of course, that’s just the start. ResearchKit and CareKit could make for an interesting and rewarding meeting topic.
